Lagos Govt to appeal to court ruling banning restriction of movement during sanitation exercise

Lagos state government says it would be appealing the court ruling by a Federal High court banning the restriction of movement during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state.

Speaking on the ban, the state Attorney-general and Commissioner for justice, Ade Ipaye, said the state government was not satisfied with the court ruling and would be appealing it
"We are, of course, not satisfied with that decision of the federal high court looking at the density of Lagos being the highest population in Nigeria.

This exercise and our sanitation programme in general have made Lagos the envy of other states, many of whom have sent their officials to understudy it. We strongly believe that it is a necessary rule in a society such as ours. We are therefore filing an appeal immediately.” he said
Also speaking, the state Solicitor general, Lawal Pedro said a notice of appeal has been filed and would be sent to the federal high court
